The Vision

After 35 years in what was meant to be a temporary building, The Young Vic wanted to replace their tired facility with a state-of-the-art building that was fit for performance and education in the 21st century and provide a community resource which reflected their particular values and culture of new works and young people’s involvement.

Our Role

We adopted the scheme at Stage C design and managed the completion of the brief and the construction phases. We also provided public funding advice and liaised with funders. Our experience of managing new build theatres allowed us to recognise the challenges brought by the artistic vision and incorporate a highly-serviced building within a tight footprint.

"The new building gives huge new opportunities to the coming generation of directors, designers, actors, writers.  We now have unrivalled facilities.  Every director who has seen it - and we have had visitors from the US, from Russia, from all over Europe and beyond - is green with envy."
