The World at Wentworth

Full refurbishment of a derelict 1860s Grade II* listed cast and wrought iron conservatory and associated potting shed to provide an interpretative centre, a demonstration area and visitor centre

The Vision

To safeguard the integrity and future of the Estate as part of a larger restoration programme, and to provide a gateway to the whole site, provide a new focus for the plant collections and evidence of the generations of gardening and planting at the site with links to the wider estate.

Our Role

We were re-appointed by the Trust following our successful delivery of the restoration of Wentworth Castle, buildings and landscaping in 2009. We led the successful HLF Stage II funding application and are now engaged to managed the design and delivery phases including managing specialist consultants and ensuring efficient communication to, and management of, all stakeholders.

The project is publicly funded through the HLF, English Heritage and ERDF. Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council is a major stakeholder in the project.
