Refurbishment of a Grade I listed building - the oldest building in the City of Liverpool to provide gallery spaces and a 200 seat performance space, along with retail spaces, creative industry spaces, artist studios and education rooms.
To provide a creative hub in the heart of Liverpool that within an efficient and cost effective building with improved circulation flow throughout the space.
We were initially appointed to assist the client and stakeholders in preparing the development plan and establishing a viable design for the scheme. At this stage we were heavily involved in developing a robust business and cost plan to enable realistic funding applications for the project.
The client, having valued our early stage support, then re-appointed us to project manage the scheme right through to practical completion.
Since reopening, the Bluecoat Art Centre has won various awards including; Liverpool Architectural Society (Building of the Year), RIBA North West Award, RIBA National (Shortlisted) and English Heritage (Top 20 conservation developments).
