A new centre for cross-disciplinary research, learning, innovation and the development of future generations of life scientists. The building provides laboratories, teaching spaces, office accommodation and transgenic glasshouses.

The Vision

The Institute for Life Sciences provides a “world’s leading, agenda setting, centre for cross-disciplinary research, learning, innovation and the development of future generations of life scientists”.  Following demolition of existing buildings the project provided new laboratories, teaching spaces, office accommodation and transgenic glasshouses. 

Our Role

We were approinted by the Unviersity of Southampton to provide full Project Management and Employer’s Agent services from Stage D through to completion and decant of the building.

Special Mention

To mitigate cost and enhance the buildability benefits in the second stage of the development, we introduced a procurement incentive scheme for the Main Contractor.  This provided an incentive for the whole project team to meet or better the cost plan figures presented at the end of the second stage.
