Redevelopment of an existing 1990s office building to create a high quality residential development comprised of two main apartment blocks with a smaller adjacent block for affordable housing.
To create a high quality, residential-led mixed-use development, the existing 1990s office building will be demolished to ground floor level and reconstructed to achieve 281,000 sq ft of new-build residential accommodation over three buildings. Two new private residential buildings will provide 122 apartments whilst a third building will offer 38 affordable homes.
We were appointed in the early stages to act as Project Manager and Employer’s Agent and helped procure the architectural competition and subsequent appointment of the architect and design team through Stage 2/C. Careful consideration was given to each role, and recommendations were based on which consultants could deliver the project, whilst achieving best value. The agreed programme included a tight timescales up to submission of the scheme for planning and we helped to manage the process to ensure that all the documentation was prepared and ready for submission, whilst driving the team through this process.
The new build scheme, designed by Stiff + Trevillion, will also include ground floor retail units in addition to communal gardens and parking spaces. A transfer deck will be constructed over the top of the access road to the rear of the site, giving vehicles access to the building and the adjacent Great Minster East.
