The Vision

To create an inspiring and high quality city academy with specialisms in Creative Arts and European Culture.

Our Role

We were appointed as construction project manager on over 20 academies, as part of the Government’s City Academy Programme, which included Folkestone Academy.

The academy had a complex brief and challenging site conditions, amid this was a variety of stakeholders, including a number of project sponsors.  We set up a structure which enabled us to manage each party’s aspirations, ensured that the product met the brief and obtained necessary and timely approvals to keep to cost, quality and programme.

The building we delivered has proved to be of high quality with an exceptional signature architecture design of which all parties, including the students, are proud and which is now delivering high quality education and changing young people’s futures.

Special Mention

We were able to work with the team to adjust the proposed levels of dig on the scheme.  This prevented a large amount of subsoil cartaway which would have generated significant cost, traffic movement and also environmental impact.  Whilst working on the project the area suffered a minor earthquake, fortunately our building was unaffected and we were able to continue with the construction works and deliver the building successfully to programme.
