Development of the new Bradford Academy, which provides high quality space for the education of 1150 pupils, whilst encouraging them to socialise and hold debates.
To provide a high-quality teaching environment, allowing students to socialise, facilitate debates and encourage a real sense of community.
As Construction Project Manager, we were responsible for ensuring that the construction programme and budget targets were achieved. Our key duties included: preparation of the brief and programme; management of the design process; confirmation of the brief, programme and design to meet the aspirations of the sponsor within the DCSF’s cost limits and design guides; as well as, managing and reporting against the capital budget culminating in completing the project within budget.
The building, we delivered hosts high quality teaching space and has been designed around a ‘forum’ where students can meet to socialise and hold debates, as encouraged by the academy’s special focus on Citizenship and Enterprise. Toc H Central and the Church of England are both sponsors of the Academy and have been committed to community development and the creation of an academy, which will be established as a school dedicated to achieving social inclusion.
