The Vision

A high quality, sustainable, community environment where local businesses can grow.

The award-winning Incubator Building is a flagship building of Alconbury Enterprise Campus, designed by architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris. The highly sustainable building now provides flexible inspiring space for small and start-up businesses at the heart of the Alconbury Weald development and provides nearly 4,000 sq ft of research and development facilities, production and office accommodation. Networking space, including a sandwich bar and roof terrace, ensures the building becomes a hub for sharing and developing ideas.

Urban&Civic's Alconbury Weald is the strategic redevelopment of a 1,420 acre brownfield site into a high quality, low carbon, mixed-use development comprising an enterprise campus, mixed residential accommodation and associated infrastructure to create a community environment. Our Role

We were appointed to provide Project Management and Employers Agent services of the development of the Alconbury Incubator Building, as well as, management of Alconbury Weald’s enabling works including two roads and two gatehouses.

In developing a delivery structure that can adapt through the 20-year life of the development process, we established a geographic breakdown structure to give a unique identifier to every sector/ zone/ area/ land parcel and plot. In order to implement our site-wide environmental and waste management plan, we led negotiations with a materials processing contractor to stockpile construction waste such as concrete, hard standings and bricks to be crushed on site and used for future site developments. In doing so, we reduced the amount of materials imported to the site, thereby lowering the project’s carbon footprint.
