In order to meet the challenging programme, we adopted a two-stage procurement process with the contractor being appointed prior to the completion of the design. We managed the fast track design development process, ensuring that Allianz’s global standards were adhered to. We provided extensive liaison with IT, on-site specialist joinery and building services in order to manage the integration of all IT and audio-visual systems.
We also liaised with the landlord representative and took overall responsibility for the management of change and control of cost to ensure the programme could be met within budget and Allianz’s objectives were delivered. Allianz had developed a global property standard which set out the concept and elements of detailed design which they wished to apply to their buildings worldwide. We were responsible for incorporating these requirements into the evolving detailed design for 60 Gracechurch Street. This involved careful handling of a number of cultural and communication issues to ensure that the London based teams achieved their aspirations within the overall standard set from Germany.
