Businessman and philathropist, Sir Norman Stoller, performed the ground-breaking ceremony, making the start on site to construct the new eco friendly Welcome Wing.

We are delighted to celebrate the continued success of The Monastery Manchester with a ground-breaking ceremony for the new Welcome Wing.
The new front wing for the Grade II* listed E.W.Pugin-designed former Church and Friary will provide flexible, purpose-designed and carbon neutral space, allowing the Trust to expand and extend its facilities and projects for the local community and general visitors, while continuing to host corporate and private events.
The 6,650 sq ft building has been made possible through a £1m donation from the Stoller Charitable Trust together with a grant of almost £2m from the HLF.
This exciting new phase follows an original programme of restoration completed in 2008, also managed by Buro Four.
