Buro Four’s Team 3 recently took to the track at the Lee Valley VeloPark Olympic BMX course for an evening of team building on bikes. The team members came to the course with a wide range of skill levels, with only two people having previously ridden BMX bikes. Despite their lack of BMX experience, the team members were doing small jumps, burns and drops by the end of their one hour lesson. After mastering these basic BMX skills, the team had the opportunity to ride in the tracks of Olympians as they tackled the 400m main course.
The team managed to avoid any major injuries despite three small crashes. Project Manager Chris Hollidge organised the outing and said that though he would certainly try the BMX course again, he probably will not be taking up the sport as a hobby anytime soon. Hollidge said the outing was best summed up by a Tweet from Associate Director Jon Kirkham reading, “Two crashes, one face plant @burofour Team 3 survived the Olympic BMX track.”
