We are delighted to announce the winner of the University of Bath's Buro Four Prize for Best International Dissertation. Alumni Declan Nolan, triumphed over the competition with an exploration of the Chinese construction industry, focusing on the process of procurement for clients.
Judges for the Buro Four Prize, which asked for entries concentrating on Construction Management, stated that, “[Declan’s] dissertation represents a very brave attempt at sourcing real information in a rapidly changing environment that is not open.”
The construction industry in China is now one of the largest in the world and is still rapidly expanding. Declan’s work has explored the challenges this industry now faces in working to a free market model, needing effective procurement after the state regulated practises of decades past.
At Buro Four, we’re really keen to support research exploring all aspects of the property construction, which facilitates discussion and insight into future challenges. To support gifted students with exemplary dissertation research is an exciting opportunity.
